This afternoon we have set up the car just as we will when we next go car camping. I'm sure that as we gain more experience we'll make a few changes but for the time being this seems to work well. We started by dropping the back seats down. We don't want to remove them as we want to be able to use the rear seats for passengers when we aren't car camping. Unfortunately our seats don't fold flat but it's not a problem as we simply used wine crates to raise the level. I might cut a wine crate down and make a smaller one to fit the empty space if we feel it's needed.
Next we put the carpet covered plywood base into the car
Then came the mattress that I made and popped into a single bed sized duvet cover. It fits perfectly and is plenty big enough for us two shorties.

The back windows are tinted and you can hardly see through in daylight so no one is going to be able to see in when it's dark. I'm waiting for some black fabric to arrive so that I can make a curtain to go right the way around the inside of the car for extra privacy.
